St. Louis, Mo., October 24, 2008 – The No. 11 Washington University women's soccer team extended its home winning streak to 12 games with a 1-0 victory over No. 10 Rhodes College in a top-15 match-up on Saturday morning at Francis Field in St. Louis, Mo. Washington U., who leads the all-time series with Rhodes, 9-1-1, have now won 26 of its last 27 games at home.
Despite an early start at 9:30 a.m., the Bears came out with a little fire as Washington U. scored on its first shot of the game for the lone goal of the contest. Junior Caryn Rosoff, Beverly Hills, Calif. (Harvard-Westlake) gathered a lose ball in front of the Rhodes net just 31 seconds into play and beat Rhodes goalkeeper Becca Clarin with a shot to the near corner. The goal for Rosoff was her team-leading sixth of the season and 28th of her career.
Washington U. outshot Rhodes, 8-4, in the first half, and senior goalkeeper Amanda Boe, Aurora, Ill. (Waubonsie Valley) made two saves.
Boe preserved the shutout for the Bears with a diving save in the 69th minute, deflecting a shot from Ashley Nadd out of bounds for a Rhodes corner kick. She finished the contest with five saves. Washington U. outshot Rhodes 19-11 in the victory.
Washington University (12-2-1, 4-0 UAA) travels to No. 19 University of Rochester on Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. (ET), in Rochester, N.Y.
