SPENCER'S GOAL IN FIRST OT GIVES UMSL MEN'S SOCCER WIN AT ILLINOIS-SPRINGFIELD

SPRINGFIELD, ILL., September 17, 2008 - Junior Blair Spencer scored on a
header in the final minute of the first overtime, helping the University of
Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at
Illinois-Springfield Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Spencer, who recorded his team-best fifth goal of the season, was assisted
by senior Dan Muesenfechter.

The Tritons improve to 4-2-1 with the victory, while UIS falls to 3-2.

UMSL fired 14 shots, landing five on goal with Spencer taking a team-high
four shots. The Tritons defense allowed eight shots by the Prairie Stars,
but didn't give up a shot on goal.

Senior Mike Bober played all 105 minutes in the keeper position.

UMSL returns to action Sunday at Southern Indiana in a conference contest at
12 p.m.
